this is joy's story told: a pilot portrait
This piece was developed capturing my time in leyton, waltham forest, the first neighbourhood I had been in since lockdown ended. It infused characteristics I knew of my family that were alive in my heart and mind and had a very detailed plan , drawing from various paintings for inspiration and as depictions of aspects of personalities and moods within my family. It was not completed, but painting ended on the 13th of June 2023, with planning beginning as early as 27th of September 2021. It was named at its final stroke "city without a sun". the 2-2: a birthday celebration project
This piece was developed collaboratively with intimate friends just next to my favourite pond in Stratford. It was completed on the 29th of July 2022.
pink blushes
This piece was created during a CCL painting session, a session run monthly in the borough of Tower Hamlets community for locals and others interested in painting in community or exploring painting skills to come and give it a go. It was completed on the 24th of June 2023.
explosion of earth in land and sky
This piece was developed abstractly with olive tones as a base inspiration. It was completed on the 17th of September 2023.
from the archives: "speak up"
Speak up was painted in from of a live congregation and was painted in line with the theme of the message shared. The message was the timer and once it was done, I was encouraged the share the heart behind the piece to a randomly selected individual and give it to them. Speak up was not the original name of the painting, but sufficiently communicates the essence of the painting. Speak up was completed on the 12th of January 2020.
